  12. A lot of people have complained about the ugliness of the icons that come 
  13. with the Emplant; some people have actually tried to do something about 
  14. it. Well today I join that group.

  18. Standard Icons:

  21. Enclosed you will find 4 color replacements for most of the icons that came 
  22. with the EMPLANT. (I'll be working on the rest soon). Using only 4 colors 
  23. (the standard Workbench 2.0+ colors); they'll look good on everybody's 
  24. Workbench. Sorry, no "MagicWorkbench"  icons here. The icons are all
  25. duel image

  29. Using them is simple enough; though I would recommend you load then into
  30. "IconEdit" and then "save as" out to your original icons so as to not lose 
  31. any "tooltypes" you may have set. MAKE A NOTE OF THE "TOOLTYPES"
  32. SO YOU CAN VERIFY THAT THEY HAVEN'T BEEN MODIFIED. Having said that
  33. these icons don't appear to have any "tooltypes" associated with
  34. them.

  38. Also, they'll look best on a 1x1 screen (or the closet thing).They'll look
  39. slightly elongated an any screen that deviates greatly from 1x1
  40. (like High-reas 600x200) Sorry, but they were designed with my Workbench
  41. screen in mind.

  47. "NewIcons":

  53. I have included 2 IFF files of all the icons in beautiful full color (At least
  54. I think they look beautiful), for those that use "NewIcons". The two files are
  55. as follows:

  58. 1. NewEMP_1: A standard high-res-lace IFF file.
  59.  
  60.  
  61. 2. NewEMP_2: A 1x1, 640x480 Productivity IFF file.
  62.  
  63.  
  64. "NewIcons" comes with a utility called "InjectBrush" that will allow you to
  65. convert a brush to a "NewIcon" icon.  Two things to consider though:
  66.  
  67.  
  68. 1. The icons do use the standard "NewIcons" palette; though I may have 
  69. changed a color or two. 
  70.  
  71.  
  72. 2. The icons are bigger that the 36x40 recommended in the "NewIcons" docs. 
  73. Though I read in another program that "NewIcons" allows icons up to 96x96 in
  74. size (Please don't quote me on that figure).

  77. Each "NewIcons" brush comes in pairs and matches the original 4 color icons. 
  78. First install the standard 4 color icons and then load the appropriate IFF 
  79. file into a paint program.  You will notice that each image pair is named; and 
  80. each image is surrounded by a ugly Magenta(?) border. Pick up everything 
  81. INSIDE that border as a brush; and save them out as pairs. Name them 
  82. accordingly to make it easier for yourself when you go and use "InjectBrush"

  85. Read the documentation for "InjectBrush" for how to proceed from here. If 
  86. "InjectBrush" complains about the size or the palette; try the FORCE option 
  87. for "InjectBrush" as mentioned in the documentation.

  90. Hopefully this will all work, if so then do like the shampoo bottle says;
  91. "repeat". If it doesn't; well then I guess you'll have to just admire the
  92. pictures and dream of what could have been. :)

  96. to install the "NewIcons" version; please let me know how it went.
